Reclaim Your Life; Overcome Depression with Hypnotherapy
Something’s just not right. When did it become so hard to get out of bed every morning? Why do I feel like I just don’t have any energy anymore? I don’t feel like myself. My kids used to make me so happy. Why am I yelling at them all the time now? My husband used to be my best friend. Now we don’t even talk. I feel alone, even with my family. What’s going on?
Like a fog, depression can roll in suddenly and dramatically, or slowly and take you by surprise. But its power is the same however it arrives. It blocks the light, dampens the spirit, saps your energy and keeps you stuck. You can’t see in front of you, you can’t see behind you, and you can’t see any way out. So you wait for it to lift.
And you wait
And you wait.
But unlike a fog, depression doesn’t always fade away by itself.
All of us experience periods of our lives when we’re sad, or blue, or grieving. It’s normal and natural to go through less-than-happy times.
But sometimes we get stuck in the sadness and “lost in the fog.” When depression sets in, we lose our ability to see joy, feel hope, give and receive love.
Are you depressed?

Whether you’ve tried anti-depressants, counseling, or psychotherapy before or not, consider hypnotherapy to free yourself from depression and to start feeling like you again.
Treat the Root Cause of Your Depression Not Just the Symptoms
The main reason that hypnotherapy is one of the most long-lasting, effective ways to treat depression is that it addresses the underlying issues that are causing your depression.
While drugs can alter your brain’s chemical balance, they do nothing to uncover, identify and correct whatever underlying issues, anxieties, anger, fears or self-esteem issues might be at the root of your depression.
So why not rely on counseling and/or psychotherapy as a treatment? Many people find ways to avoid talking about the most painful or hidden feelings they have—feelings or thoughts that might be at the heart of their depression. Sometimes, those feelings or thoughts are so buried in the mind, that you don’t even have a conscious awareness of them. Because counseling and psychotherapy work at the level of the conscious mind, it may not be possible to reveal and address the most toxic issues.
Hypnosis is different.
Hypnosis Frees You from Depression
Hypnotherapy for depression works because it speaks to the subconscious part of your mind that’s storing the root cause of your pain.
Together, hypnotherapy and coaching uncover the source, or sources, of your depression in order to influence change.
Some examples of the root causes of depression might be:
- Perspectives on situations or circumstances that are distorted or out-of-proportion
- Past events that hurt us or memories that continue to plague us
- Fear of success, fear of failure, other fears
- Low self-esteem or negative self-image
- Inability to follow through on goals
- Beating up on yourself, lack of forgiveness or acceptance of yourself or others
Your subconscious mind doesn’t know what’s real or not. As far as it’s concerned, painful memories or negative self-images that are stored there are real and present dangers. The conscious mind is responsible for determining what’s real, but it doesn’t have the power to change the subconscious mind. So the conflict that exists between reality and subconscious reality can create real pain and discordance: depression.
By speaking to the subconscious in hypnosis, your hypnotherapist can distract your mind from harmful or painful stimuli (such as memories or self-defeating thought-patterns) and refocus its attention on more productive goals. Your hypnotherapist can also help your subconscious mind to see issues from a different perspective and change negative core beliefs.
