Let Hypnosis Send Your Fear Running!

It can’t hurt me. It’s okay. I’m fine. There’s nothing to be scared of. Be strong. Oh god. I can’t do this. No, I’m fine. No I’m not; I have to get out of here. I’m starting to sweat—people are staring at me! Its fine, deep breathes. Oh no—I can’t breathe. Oh god, get me out of here! I can’t do this! Get me out of here! GET ME OUT OF HERE!

If you’ve ever had a phobia, you know all too well the frustration and embarrassment that go along with it. It feels like no matter how many times you try to rationalize your fear or say to yourself, “That’s it, next time will be different! Next time, I’ll be in control!” …nothing seems to help. Not only are phobias debilitating and may hold you back in life, you often feel that no one understands or that your peers and loved ones are even judging you for it.

The good news is that you don’t have to suffer any longer. Phobias can be managed and eliminated quickly and easily through hypnosis!

UNDERSTANDING YOUR PHOBIA—AND GETTING IT GONE THROUGH HYPNOSIS

Do you feel;

• Racing heart
• Sweaty or clammy palms
• Butterflies or tightness in your stomach
• Trouble breathing
• Racing thoughts

The first step to understanding how hypnosis can help you overcome your fear is to realise what a phobia is in the first place, and how they occur.

Fear is one of our bodies’ most basic instincts. And while we may see fear as a negative quality (a weakness), it is in fact engineered in our brains as a method of keeping us alert to danger. In other words, fear is a good thing—in the proper context—because it helps us make decisions that will keep us safe.

A phobia is simply misdirected fear. Our subconscious mind believes that we’re in danger and sends chemical signals through our brain in order to make us feel uncomfortable and thus remove ourselves from that current situation.

Hypnosis works by retraining our subconscious into understanding that what we are phobic of is not actually going to hurt us and therefore there is no reason to be afraid.

THE BIRTH—AND DEATH—OF YOUR FEARS

We are born with only two instinctual fears: loud noises and the sensation of falling. All other fears are acquired either through a traumatic personal experience, picked up from someone else with that phobia (usually a parent), or from seeing something on television or in the movies. Most phobias are picked up almost instantaneously.

We’ll use fear of flying as an example:

Let’s say that you, like many people, developed a sudden fear of flying after September 11th. You saw the horrors of what could potentially occur on television and your subconscious automatically made a link in your mind between “airplane” and “crash.” This means that, on some level, you believe that any airplane—specifically one you are on—is destined to crash.

Even though you try to rationalize this fear with truths such as the fact that very few planes do crash and that flying is about as safe as driving a car, you can’t help the overwhelming panic attacks that overtake you at the mere idea of getting on a plane.

This, of course, is extremely detrimental to your life as a whole because it means that either;

a) You are incapable of flying or
b) Any time you spend in the air will be extremely unpleasant.

HOW HYPNOSIS CAN HELP YOU CONQUER YOUR PHOBIA

The good news is that just as quickly as you learned this phobia, you can unlearn it.

 Hypnosis deals directly with your subconscious, which is the part of the brain responsible for housing this fear.

Your hypnotherapist will help you uncover the details of exactly what it is that you’re afraid of and how this fear came to be.

Sometimes, we can’t consciously explain where our phobia came from. With hypnosis, you’ll be able to pinpoint its exact birth—you may surprise yourself!

Next, your hypnotherapist will use suggestion to retrain your brain.  After all, a phobia is just a misconception—you subconsciously believe that something is more dangerous than it actually is, and therefore your body is acting accordingly.

Hypnosis will teach your subconscious that whatever you’re afraid of (e.g. flying) is not necessarily going to hurt you and there is no need for your body to react in that manner physically. Additionally, your hypnotherapist will show you relaxation techniques you can use when you find yourself in that stressful situation to stay calm and focused.
